Were we lucky in the summer transfer window
If we had got first choice Colbaek would we have the workhorse that is Kouyate and if we had got Wickham we would not have Sakho. Second choices both but think both appear to be the better choices.

Biggest bit of luck is that Sam wasn't involved

Whoever you buy you need a bit of luck.

I don't think it was a case of Colback or Kouyate - I think we could have bought both. Song wouldn't have come in though in that case.

Sakho seems to be the punt that (so far) looks like a bargain.

The funny thing is that I think you could reintroduce Maiga into this week's formation and he'd do a whole lot better.

Agree with Alex v with regards to Colback.

Kouyate would always have walked straight into the first 11 but I think Colback was just a Bosman who was available and could have replaced the 20 games plus sub appearances that Taylor and Collison played.

Song came in as a Diame replacement so not sure that is right.

The fat mans main target this summer was kouyate he went over to Belgium to persuade him to join us

Kouyate and song are top 4 midfield players we need to get at least a Europa place to keep these 2

Re: Were we lucky in the summer transfer window
Im just pleased we seem to have addressed the major problems we had in our squad ... lack of pace, lack of quality and lack of power.

Someone like Kouyate is a beast. Still not getting a lot of outside attention but was all over the place.
You saw in the incident where he was booked trying to slide in to score on the edge of the six yard box that he gets forward too. Almost did it again towards the end where the defender just got in ahead of him.
Cresswell has been an excellent spot too. Has taken to the Premier league instantly. Have always said there must be young English full backs in the Championship that we could take and develop.

Tony Henry has been a naughty boy and working during his gardening leave for sure!!

seriously though, has he started, has he joined? surely he is responsible for the likes of Song. We have picked up some fucking massive players!!

Well, we were luckier than Liverpool, that's for sure. :-)

You can be lucky once, twice maybe coincidence, but 7/8 times isn't just luck!

All our summer signings have been superb

Early doors yet people, whats the news on Kouyate's injury?

Re: Were we lucky in the summer transfer window
Lucky that Sam works so well with Martyn Glover and targeted Kouyate, Cresswell and Sakho for months. Watched all three live last season.

Zarate, Valencia and Song came via Sullivan's links but Sam had final say and made the decision to go for them.

Downing and Adrian also from Sam. Quality additions.

His team now except for homegrown Nobes and Tonks. Reid (signed by Sullivan with Avram support).

It is early, so won't get carried away but some decent business done.

We seem to have all forgotten about young Poyet, who I was quite excited about.

Ernest, did this T Henry bloke have nothing to do with it then and if so, do we still need him?

Re: Were we lucky in the summer transfer window
No not really, unless you say we were unlucky last summer.

If you say we were 'shit' last summer, then you'd have to say we were 'good' rather than lucky this one, in my opinion.

I would say our summer business was anything but lucky. I think it was fucking superb.
